Serie A Round 22

Jan 26, 2013

Lazio 0 – 1 Chievo
Paloschi 61

Juventus 1 – 1 Genoa
Quagliarella 54 – Borriello 68

In the second half injury time with the score at 1-1 the ball hit Granqvist’s knee in the Genoa area then bounced into his arm, and out for a corner. Juve were furious about the ref’s decision not to award the penalty.

Jan 27, 2013

Atalanta 0 – 1 Milan
El Shaarawy 29
Sent Off: Brivio 58 (Atalanta, two yellow cards in the space of 10 minutes)

Cagliari 1 – 1 Palermo
Tiago Ribeiro 90 – Ilicic 30

Ilicic thumped the ball into the net after Dossena comfortably cut it back for him from the byline. Tiago Ribeiro equalized for the hosts in the last minute of the second half with a header.

Palermo captain Miccoli was left on the bench for this game, which didn’t prevent him from getting expelled for protesting in the second half injury time. Palermo coach Gasperini followed him; not sure what they were protesting against. Gasperini complined in the post-match interview that “it was difficult to defend with all defenders already booked” — a ridiculous complaint.

Catania 2 – 1 Fiorentina
Legrottaglie 50, Castro 88 – Migliaccio 22
Sent Off: Aquilani 78 (Fiorentina, straight red for dissent)

Parma 1 – 2 Napoli
Cannavaro 74 og – Hamsik 20, Cavani 85

Cavani wasted a host of chances but still gave Napoli the win five minutes from time.

Napoli cut the distance to Juventus to just three points. Still I don’t count them as a title contenders.

Sampdoria 6 – 0 Pescara
Eder 31 pen, Icardi 42, 56, 59, 72, Obiang 50

A poker for the Argentinian youngster who is already being eyed by the big clubs’ scouts.

Udinese 1 – 0 Siena
Muriel 36

Rosina wasted a great chance early on when with only the goalkeeper to beat he shot straight at him. Muriel put Udinese into the lead after a Siena player was dispossessed in midfield and Di Natale launched a fast break. 30 seconds into the second half protagonista negativa Rosina should have scored but failed to connect with a cross while being alone three meters in front of goal, incredible.

Bologna 3 – 3 Roma
Gilardino 17, Gabbiadini 26, Pasquato 54 – Florenzi 9, Osvaldo 18, Tachtsidis 74

Florenzi neatly slotted the ball into the far corner, Totti provided the assist. Gilardino equalized for Bologna on the rebound after Goicoechea saved Gabbiadini’s shot. 30 seconds later Pjanic sent a cross from the right for Osvaldo to restore Roma’s lead with a firm header. Gabbiadini’s speculative shot went in after taking a deflection off Burdisso.

Pasquato put the hosts into the lead in the second half shortly after coming on for injured Gabbiadini. Tachtsidis headed in the equalizer after Totti sent a free kick into the area. 3-3 but the fun hasn’t ended yet: Agliardi miraculously saved Osvaldo’s header from three meters. Brilliant Diamanti sent a long-range shot into the far post, then his free kick hit the crossbar with Goicoechea beaten.

Inter 2 – 2 Torino
Chivu 5, Cambiasso 67 – Meggiorini 23, 52

Chivu curled in a free kick. Guarin lost possession on the edge of own area and Meggiorini scored with ease. He put the visitors into the lead in the second half before Cambiasso equalized after 39-year old Zanetti made a run to the byline and cut the ball back for him.

Lazio 43
