Match played in Turkey

Zenit are in Turkey for their second preparational training camp. Yesterday the team played a friendly against Croatian side RNK Split. The only goal of the game came in the second half: Zyryanov fed Hulk with a through ball, the Brazilian dribbled past two or three defenders in the area and centered for Shirokov who was ready to tap in but oncoming Fayzulin got to the ball first and toe-poked it into the net. Half-time substitute Ivanov got sent off for two yellow cards late in the second half.

Denisov played the whole 90 minutes. Is his conflict with the club over? We will see. This game was notable for the fact that the Split captain is the charismatic former Zenit defender Ivica Krizanac. There were some friendly scenes after the game as Ivica was meeting his old friends.

Next Match: Thu Jan 31, 5:00pm GMT, Zenit – Gornik (Poland) (not February 1st as I wrote earlier)
