Fiorentina 2 – 2 Milan
Ljajic 66 pen, Pizarro 73 pen – Montolivo 14, Flamini 62

Fat man Pizarro attemped dribbling inside own half, Montolivo took the ball away from him, moved forward and dispatched the ball into the corner. Fiorentina’s Tomovic was sent off five minutes before the break for non-elbowing El Shaarawi, a very dubious red card. After an hour of play Flamini seemed to have finished off the hosts from El Shaarawy’s center. Incredibly, Fiorentina came back with two penalties in the space of eight minutes.

Catania 0 – 0 Cagliari

Udinese 3 – 1 Chievo
Di Natale 20, 25, Benatia 85 – Papp 35

Sampdoria 1 – 3 Palermo
Munari 43 – Von Bergen 35, Ilicic 50, Santiago Garcia 56

Von Bergen opened the scoring for the visitors with a totally mis-hit shot (a touch rather) which disoriented Romero in Sampdoria goal, after Miccoli delivered a cross to the far post from a free kick. Munari headed in the equalizer from a corner a minute before the break.

Five minutes into the second half Ilicic slalomed with the ball in between no less than five Sampdoria players before sending the ball into the far corner, magnificent goal. Santiago Garcia headed in at the far post after a Miccoli corner, to secure Palermo’s unexpected away win.

Siena 0 – 0 Parma

Inter 3 – 4 Atalanta
Rocchi 44, Alvarez 57, 61 – Bonaventura 56, Denis 65 pen, 71, 77

Former Lazio player Tommaso Rocchi got a rare start because Inter’s primary goal-getter Rodrigo Palacio was sidelined with a thigh injury. A minute before the break Rocchi at the near post stuck out his boot to a corner, diverting the ball into the net for his 100th goal in the Serie A. He hasn’t scored for 14 months.

Ten minutes after the restart Bonaventura equalized for the visitors after being left unmaked in the area. Less than a minute later a mixup between Canini and Polito allowed Alvarez to head into the empty net. Alvarez seemed to have finished off Atalanta four minutes later with an individual effort, beating Polito at his near post. Not quite, it turned out: five minutes later the ref awarded Atalanta a penalty for no reason whatsoever. Denis converted. Another five minutes later Denis equalized after a move similar to that of Alvarez’ when he was scoring his second goal. Finally, thirteen minutes from time Denis sent the ball into the corner from Bonaventura’s center for the unlikely 4-3. There was still time for Inter to create a few chances. In the injury time Atalanta defender Raimondi was sent off for knocking down former teammate Schelotto with a punch in the jaw. In the very end, Ranoccia missed an open goal from literally one meter, one of the most incredible misses of the season for sure.

A brawl broke out after the final whistle, Raimondi and Schelotto among the main participants.

Napoli 2 – 0 Genoa
Pandev 18, Dzemaili 29

Pandev opened the scoring with a shot from inside the area which took a slight deflection off a defender. On the half hour mark Dzemaili doubled the hosts’ advantage with a well placed diagonal shot into the far corner. Dzemaili has an excellent shot by the way. The result was never in doubt from that moment on. Napoli dominated and Cavani wasted about half a dozen chances, incuing a penalty miss midway through the second half, Frey saving his poor shot.

Apr 8, 2013

Roma 1 – 1 Lazio
Hernanes 16 – Totti 57 pen

Hernanes opened the scoring with one of his typical fantastic strikes from oustide the area.

Five minutes after the restart Marquinhos unnecessarily handled in the area, from the resulting penalty Hernanes sent the ball wide. Hernanes is a great attacking player but he’s not as good in defense, it turned out: a few minutes later he fouled Pjanic in the Lazio area, and Totti converted the spot kick. Totti’s powerful free kick was parried by Marchetti and Florenzi sent the ball straight at the lying keeper on the rebound instead of an easy lob over him. Biava collected two yellow cards in the space of five minutes and left Lazio with ten men. Ten minutes from time Lamela headed high from about one meter in front of the empty net after a great corner by Totti.

Roma haven’t had a derby win in two years now.

“On the one hand, it was frustrating not to take advantage of Lazio being down to 10 men and snatch a late win, but on the other hand it could have been a lot worse for Roma if Hernanes had converted his penalty kick while it was still 1-0.”
