Serie A Round 3

After this round, Juventus are not the first in the table, for the first time in 17 months. Hopefully it stays this way till the end of the season.

Sep 14, 2013

Inter 1 – 1 Juventus
Icardi 73 – Vidal 75

Torino 2 – 2 Milan
D’Ambrosio 47, Cerci 71 – Muntari 87, Balotelli 90+5 pen

A totally bullshit penalty gave Milan a point deep into the injury time, disgraceful refereeing.

Napoli 2 – 0 Atalanta
Higuain 71, Callejon 81
Sent off: Cigarini 73 (Atalanta, second yellow)

Napoli’s new coach Rafa Benitez rotated the squad in view of the Champions League game in the midweek; he left Hamsik and Callejon on the bench. It was not until Hamsik came on as a sub though, that Napoli finally broke the deadlock. Substitute Callejon added the second goal late in the game.

Sep 15, 2013

Fiorentina 1 – 1 Cagliari
Borja Valero 72 – Pinilla 89
Sent off: Pizarro 90+2 (Fiorentina, straight red for protesting the ref’s decision)

A really black day for Fiorentina started with Cuadrado injuring his shoulder after falling ackwardly. Later in the first half, Mario Gomez was stretched off with a knee injury, he’s expected to be out for about two months. Despite the setbacks, the hosts eventually got a goal 18 minutes from time but Pinilla headed in the equalizer in the last minute of regular time. In the injury time, Giuseppe Rossi was clearly brought down in the Cagliari area, no penalty. Fiorentina players protested furiously, David Pizarro was especially active so he earned himself a red card. Montella joined the protests after the final whistle.

Verona 2 – 0 Sassuolo
Raphael Martinho 12, Romulo 90+3

Sassuolo were very unlucky to not get at least a point form this game. They were the better side but failed to convert their numerous chances.

Lazio 3 – 0 Chievo
Candreva 8, Cavanda 38, Lulic 41

Livorno 2 – 0 Catania
Paulinho 66, 72
Catania wasn’t bad at all and probably deserved a point but went down to two goals by Paulinho, which came in quick succession in the middle of the second half.

Udinese 1 – 1 Bologna
Di Natale 85 – Diamanti 71

Brilliant Diamanti curled in another of his fantastic free kicks. Di Natale equalized from close range in his 300th game for Udinese.

Sampdoria 0 – 3 Genoa
Antonini 9, Calaio 50, Lodi 66

Sep 16, 2013

Parma 1 – 3 Roma
Biabiany 39 – Florenzi 47, Totti 70, Strootman 85 pen

Biabiany put the hosts into the lead a few minutes before the break. Florenzi equalized soon after the restart with a spectacular half volley after Pjanic chipped the ball to him into the Parma area. Totti and Strootman secured the three points for the visitors later
in the game.

Roma scored all their 8 goals this season in the second half. Coach Rudi Garcia attributed that fact to their “excellent physical form”. The best season start for Roma in years.
