Amkar 1 – 0 Zenit

Russian League, Round 29
May 23, 2015
Amkar 1 – 0 Zenit
Goal: Kolomeytsev 38
Perm, Zvezda Stadium
Att: 12800

Amkar: Gerus – Butko, Belorukov, Cherenchikov, Zanev – Peev (68 Jovicic), Gol, Ogude, Kolomeytsev, Balanovich (78 Idowu), Prudnikov (83 Picusceac)
Zenit: Malafeev – Anyukov (c) (62 Arshavin), Neto, Garay, Criscito – Tymoshchuk (62 Javi Garcia), Witsel, Smolnikov, Hulk, Shatov – Rondon (75 Kerzhakov)

Villas-Boas made some changes to the Zenit starting lineup after achieving the main goal of the season, the league title. Veteran goalkeeper Malafeev got a rare appearence, also Javi Garcia was rested with Tymoshchuk replacing him as one of the holding midfielders alongside Witsel. Smolnikov (who of course had started his career as a forward) played closer to the attack this time:

    Shatov - Hulk - Smolnikov
       Witsel - Tymoshchuk
Criscito - Garay - Neto - Anyukov

The hosts who are fighting relegation looked very motiveted. Zenit have secured the title already and had nothing to play for in this fixture. Amkar took the lead a few minutes before the interval from a nicely taken free kick, Malafeev was rooted to the spot and only watched the ball going into the corner. He was probably screened by other players when Kolomeytsev made the shot. Amkar held on to their advantage in the second half for a deserved win.

Zenit has a new addition to their logo — after winning the club’s 5th league title this season the Petersburgers added a star to the club logo. Looks nice:
