Former Zenit player Kornilenko scored twice to ensure a shock victory by his club Krylya Sovetov who had just returned to the top flight this year after a one-year spell in the lower division. The crucial moment in the game came after an hour when, with Zenit trailing 1-2, the selfish Brazilian star Hulk failed to convert a penalty, again. Coach Andre Villas-Boas got sent off in the end of first half after a clash with the 4th official, incredilby it looked like the official was the one who initiated the physical contact!! The Zenit coach was subsequently banned from the bench for 6 games, which I think is a ridiculous punishment.
The big game coming after the international break on September 12 when Zenit travels to leaders CSKA. The Muscovites have won all 7 first matches of the season and now enjoy a 6-point lead over rivals Zenit. A massive game is expected.
Meanwhile, Zenit were drawn to play Valencia, Lyon, and Gent in their Champions League group, the first match is the difficult away fixture at Valencia on September 16.
